  9. succeeded his father as 2nd Baron Rothschild
  10. and was an eminent naturalist. His daughter
  11. Miriam (1908-) is an entomologist, renowned
  12. for her studies of fleas. The 2nd baron's
  13. nephew, Nathaniel (1910-1990), 3rd Baron
  14. Rothschild, was a scientist. During World War
  15. II he worked in British military
  16. intelligence. He was head of the central
  17. policy-review staff in the Cabinet Office
  18. (the `think tank' set up by Edward Heath)
  19. 1970-74. Of the French branch, Baron Eric de
  20. Rothschild (1940-) owns Chateau Lafitte and
  21. Baron Philippe de Rothschild (1902-) owns
  22. Chateau Mouton-Rothschild, both leading
  23. claret-producing properties in Pauillac, SW
  24. France.
